Mission of the Sanders County Sheriff's Office:  To uphold the Federal, State, & Sanders County Laws and to protect and defend the residents and visitors of Sanders County.  Provide diligent attention to and monitor the economic impact of this office. Increase public awareness of  county law enforcement's role to provide Public Safety.

  1. Continued ZERO Tolerance of illegal drugs in Sanders County.   Monitor and report  successes as the Sanders County Sheriff’s Office focuses on the elimination of methamphetamine and other dangerous drugs in this county.

The greatest law enforcement issue in Sanders County is illegal drug manufacturing, distribution, possession and use.  Our number one target is Methamphetamine, a drug that steals the mind, gravely affects public welfare, and is especially dangerous to children and young adults.

  1. Increase patrol deputies investigating domestic and other related crimes. Through training, policies, procedures and practices the Sanders County Sheriff’s Office will maintain its’ high level of professionalism in the most difficult public safety concern.

The Battered Women's Justice Grant, administered by the Sanders County Commissioners, monitors and distributes funds to the Sheriff's Office.  The grant covers expenses for one trained detective and specialized equipment.  Additionally, it covers training for all law enforcement personnel in handling these highly dangerous crimes in a safer manner.  The positive cooperation with SCCFF (Sanders County Coalition for Families) has greatly increased safety to our citizens and improved the success rate of convictions.

  1. Renew funding for the two School Resource Officers.

This dedicated critical contact with Sanders County kids and teens is becoming increasingly important.  Positive impact has been seen through the School Resource Officer program in preventing, investigating and resolving crimes.

  1.  Upgrade and improve the 911, Radio, Phone, and SWIFT Communications Systems.

Sheriff’s Office telecommunications in Sanders County is difficult due to the size and geography of the county.  By reviewing technical problems and converting to digital technology we plan to improve the department’s communications effectiveness.

The Administrative Secretary, Donna Neal, has been instrumental in implementing and upgrading the SWIFT Program, (Law Enforcement Data Gathering Computer Program) successfully saves time and reduces costs associated with officers and staff in preventing and processing crimes.

  1.    Active Participation in the Sanders County SART.

This is a co-operative effort with the Clark Fork Hospital, Sanders County physicians, SCCFF, Dept of Family Services, and local and county law enforcement personnel.
